Itachi prevented a full scale civil war and the outbreak or the trigger of the 4th Great Ninja War(with other shinobi nations invading the Hidden Leaf after it gets vulnerable from civil war with the Uchiha), thereby prevented global bloodshed across the shinobi world. But the cost he had to pay for the sake of shinobi peace and Hidden Leaf was being forced to kill his own brethren and kin of Uchiha from triggering this global bloodshed. Even after all that Itachi protected Uchiha Clan's reputation and honour as proud clan of the Leaf and took all the blame and hatred upon himself. He even infiltrated Akatsuki as a spy to protect Konoha from the inside. The fact that Akatsuki never went after the Leaf and Naruto for 8 years and stalling of Tobi's plans all this time was all because of Itachi Uchiha. The fact that he wanted to die at Sasuke's hands so that Sasuke could be hailed as Hero of the Hidden Leaf and the man who avenged the Uchiha Clan. Even after Death, Itachi saved Naruto and Killer Bee from Nagato(Pain) and sealed him off. Defeated Kabuto without killing him and undoing reanimation jutsu saving the shinobi world for the second time as Itachi Uchiha of the Leaf. Except Madara and Tobi, the entire enemy force crumbled playing a major unsung role in the victory of the 4th Great Ninja War. He still died with a smile on his face after all disgrace and hatred all for the sake of the greater good. He was a true Hokage material and could have been the greatest Hokage of Konoha. It's unfortunate he inherited the worst circumstances ever by any shinobi. Yet he was the shadow Hokage all along. The Hero from Shadows-RIP Itachi
